SWFL Food Junkie

Let’s be honest: Fort Myers has no shortage of drive-thru coffee chains. But if you’ve ever wanted your morning cup to come with a little more personality, you’re in luck. The local coffee scene here has quietly exploded, and these days you can get a proper flat white from a French-Argentinian bakery, a donut made fresh that morning, or a latte brewed with beans roasted right here in Southwest Florida.

We’ve spent a lot of mornings (and let’s face it, afternoons) hunting down the best coffee in Fort Myers, and these six local spots are the ones we keep coming back to, mug after mug.

Grab a cup. Here’s where to find great local coffee in Fort Myers.

Take Two Coffee

Some pairings just make sense, and coffee plus fresh donuts is at the top of that list. Take Two Coffee opened in 2023 and quickly became one of our favorite hangouts in Fort Myers, thanks to a menu of craft coffee made with single origin beans and a case of donuts that never lasts as long as it should.

On our last visit, they were pouring a natural process El Salvador roast with notes of milk chocolate, hazelnut, and orange blossom. If that sentence means nothing to you, no worries. Just know the coffee is smooth, the donuts are fresh, and the space is the kind of cozy that makes you cancel your next errand.

Our go-to: An iced latte and whatever donut is calling your name from the case.

The Cypress Coffeehouse

The newest addition to the Fort Myers coffee scene, and one of the most thoughtfully designed. The Cypress Coffeehouse is a big, open space with a full coffee and tea menu, rotating seasonal drink specials, and plenty of room to spread out. If you work remotely and your home office is starting to feel like a cave, this is your sign.

Our favorite touch is the book exchange wall. Bring a book from home, swap it for something new, and settle in with your coffee. It’s a small thing, but it says a lot about the kind of community spot they’re building.

Our go-to: Whatever the seasonal special is, plus a new read from the wall.

Sour & Dough Artisan Bakery & Coffee

Part French bakery, part Argentinian café, all delicious. Sour & Dough in the Gateway area near Miromar Outlets is where specialty coffee in Fort Myers meets serious baking. Their baristas pull espresso from quality Colombian beans, and the flat white here is one of the best we’ve had in SWFL.

Then there’s the bread. Traditional French technique sourdough, flaky croissants, cinnamon rolls, focaccia, and brioche sandwiches all come out of this kitchen. Come for a coffee, leave with a loaf. It happens every time.

Our go-to: A flat white and a croissant, plus a sourdough loaf for the road.

Shift Coffee Bar

A downtown Fort Myers staple since 2017, Shift started out slinging espresso from coffee trikes and grew into one of the most loved coffee shops downtown. Their McGregor Boulevard shop is small but mighty: pastel walls, lush greenery, and baristas who genuinely know their craft.

Everything here is a little more considered than your average coffee stop. The syrups are made in house, the seasonal menus are legitimately creative (the lavender vanilla latte has a fan club), and the espresso and tonic might be the most refreshing drink in the city. Add a slice of the peanut butter and jelly crumb cake and you’ll understand why people drive in from Bonita just for this place.

Our go-to: The espresso and tonic, plus whatever seasonal latte they’re pouring.

Chocolattés Coffee & Roasting

Chocolattés has been caffeinating Fort Myers since 2004, and they do it the old-fashioned way: by roasting their own beans. Their San Carlos Boulevard café pours a full espresso bar lineup alongside seasonal small-batch roasts, like their Coastal blend with notes of cocoa, brown sugar, and citrus.

Regulars swear by the Sunshine in a Cup, which tastes exactly like it sounds, and the breakfast menu covers everything from avocado toast to warm sourdough with bacon. This is the kind of local roaster every neighborhood deserves.

Our go-to: A bag of the seasonal roast to brew at home, and a Sunshine in a Cup for right now.

Savour Coffee

Tucked into a shopping plaza off U.S. 41 and Island Park Road in south Fort Myers, Savour Coffee is the definition of a neighborhood gem. The owner grew up on Pacific Northwest coffee culture and it shows: beans are sourced from around the world and roasted right in Cape Coral, and the espresso bar takes zero shortcuts.

The signature drinks are where Savour has fun. The PNW is a local favorite, the menu is loaded with dairy-free and sugar-free options, and your cup even comes labeled with the name of the barista who made it. Pair your latte with a fresh-baked cinnamon roll or one of their breakfast sandwiches, and if you need a spot to work remotely, there’s plenty of seating and welcoming energy to stay a while.

Our go-to: The PNW with a warm cinnamon roll, fresh out of the oven if you time it right.

The Bottom Line on Fort Myers Coffee

The best coffee in Fort Myers isn’t coming out of a drive-thru window with a green logo. It’s being roasted on San Carlos Boulevard, poured over fresh sourdough in Gateway, and served next to still-warm donuts by people who know their regulars by name. Local coffee shops like these are a huge part of what makes the Fort Myers food scene special, and supporting them keeps it that way.
